About

I am a former broadcast general manager who made the transition to coach, writer, and motivational speaker.

I started my earlier career in broadcast television with a belief that television news could make a difference in the world…be a catalyst for positive change. In simpler times, I believe it did. Change is inevitable though. The industry was being technologically disrupted and with the consolidation needed to achieve cost efficiencies via centralized decision making, a lot of what drew me to the general manager role in the business just wasn’t relevant anymore. I knew with my passion gone, it was time for me to make a change.

When I stepped back and thought about my signature strengths, what mattered to me and what I got the most fulfillment from, I realized…

my greatest accomplishments and most satisfying rewards came directly from using my curiosity, my creativity and my desire to help others achieve what they want. I knew I would build my encore career around coaching.

Today, I love my work coaching leaders who want to build their personal capacity for innovation and creativity. I help them enhance the soft skills that engage others in a way that taps their personal best. And,in some cases, I help them chart a new career path more resonant with their personal values.

My career success has always been fueled by my relentless curiosity, a 50,000 foot view and the ability to help others achieve their goals.

In the twelve years I served as a general manager for my former broadcast employer, they called on me to manage 4 of the 10 television stations they owned. I used questions and observation to spot growth opportunity in spite of key differences at each station. I aimed my people skills at helping people to achieve their personal best.

This supported teams that achieved award winning product improvements and new business growth that outpaced market competitors.

Now, I work with business leaders who want to build their personal capacity for innovation with habits that support their creativity. I help them develop the soft skills that engage others in a way that taps their personal best.

I want to provide great coaching informed by what research is uncovering to help my clients climb off of their own treadmill, develop their competencies of discernment, observation, and habits that lead to innovative, big picture thinking.

My goal is to help my clients:

  • be better prepared to avoid overwhelm
  • spend less time in low value activities
  • be more resilient when they replace bad habits with good ones
  • expand their capacity for discovery and innovative thinking
  • be able to enlist and develop others so they contribute their personal best

My philosophy?

I believe that taking time to ask really good questions is one of the most foundational competencies to staying relevant and focused on emergent opportunities at the speed of change.

Right questions from a 50,000 foot view are critical before we begin the job of deciding what is relevant or where we want to go.

We risk loosing perspective if we get lost in the explosion of information –most of which has increasingly short shelf life due to the speed of change. I believe our best options come from the creativity and clarity of having more than one perspective at a time.

Questions lead to the sharpening of perspectives and perspectives ultimately provide the frameworks that become the filters for what information matters.

If you are serious about making changes in what you are doing and how you are doing it, I would love to support you as your coaching partner as you shift gears.

If you have never worked with a coach, it might be hard to envision what coaching can do for you.

Let’s have a conversation about what you’d like to change and how coaching might support that change.
